Explore Sustainability Policy in Brussels

Discover how sustainability policy is developed, debated and transformed into real-world action on this immersive 7-day program in Brussels, designed for university groups.

Combining institutional visits, sustainability workshops, field experiences and challenge-based learning, the program introduces participants to the organisations, regulations and stakeholders shaping Europe’s green transition.

Discover how sustainability policy is created

As the home of major European institutions, Brussels offers a powerful setting for understanding climate governance and sustainability policy. Participants examine how priorities move from ideas and targets into regulation, incentives and implementation.

Tentative experiences include a guided visit to the European Parliament, a Climate Fresk workshop at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, and a session exploring how EU policy becomes practical change.

Connect sustainability policy with business and society

Through activities focused on ESG, stakeholder mapping and policy simulation, participants explore how regulation influences business decisions and how different interests shape sustainability outcomes.

The program also examines circular food production and urban sustainability through experiences such as a visit to BIGH Aquaponics Farm. These activities connect institutional policy with changes taking place within cities, businesses and communities.

Build practical policy and problem-solving skills

Throughout the week, participants work towards an EU Sustainability Policy Brief Challenge. Teams draw on institutional visits, field experiences and workshops to identify an issue, evaluate stakeholders and develop practical recommendations.

The program concludes with final presentations, helping participants bring together their understanding of climate governance, circular systems and ESG. Students leave with a clearer view of how policy is shaped and how it can drive real-world transformation.
