Riding the Hallyu Wave in Seoul

Trace Korean culture from its historical roots to its global influence on this immersive 12-day experience exploring heritage, language, history, K-Pop, K-Beauty, fashion and food.

Experience the Hallyu Wave in Seoul

Discover the story behind one of the world’s most influential cultural movements on this immersive 12-day experience in Seoul.

From royal palaces and traditional Hanbok to K-Pop, K-Beauty, fashion and Korean food, the program follows Korean culture from its historical foundations to the global phenomenon known as the Hallyu Wave.

Discover the roots of Korean culture

The journey begins with the traditions, language and history that continue to shape Korean identity. Participants experience a palace tour in Hanbok, explore Bukchon Hanok Village and visit Insadong for traditional tea and shopping.

A guided National Museum of Korea visit, an introduction to Hangul and a basic Korean language class provide the cultural foundation for understanding contemporary Korea.

Understand modern Korean identity

A DMZ tour places Korea’s modern history alongside its cultural development, giving participants context around the division of the Korean Peninsula and contemporary South Korean society.

The tentative itinerary also includes a discussion with a North Korean defector. These experiences encourage students to connect historical perspectives with the identity and resilience of modern Korea.

Step inside modern Hallyu

As the program moves from the past into the present, participants explore the creative industries behind Korea’s global cultural influence. Experiences include a K-Pop dance class, HiKR Ground, K-Star Road, K-Beauty activities and personal colour analysis.

Korean food experiences, a temple visit, fashion and design districts, and Hongdae’s youth and busking culture broaden the journey. Participants leave with a deeper understanding of how heritage, creativity and identity have contributed to Hallyu’s worldwide appeal.
