Made in Germany: Where School Meets Workplace

Discover Germany’s dual vocational training system through an eight-day Berlin study visit exploring industry partnerships, practical training and education.

Understand How Schools and Employers Train Together

Designed for vocational college leaders, teachers, workshop instructors and training specialists, this professional visit examines how Germany shares responsibility for occupational training between schools, employers and chambers.

Through institutional discussions, workshop observations and enterprise visits, you’ll follow the system from standards and governance to practical delivery. A common observation framework helps you compare approaches and identify ideas relevant to your own institution.

Explore Governance and Independent Assessment

Examine how public authorities, schools, employers and chambers coordinate apprenticeships. Consider training regulations, supervision and chamber examinations, including how different representatives contribute to assessment.

Compare Practical Training and Instructor Development

Observe vocational school workshops and an inter-company training centre. Explore how learning connects across settings, how facilities respond to changing technology and how trainer qualifications support instructional quality.

Examine Inclusion and Employer Participation

Investigate accessible training, specialist learner support and routes to recognised qualifications. At a training enterprise, consider the employer’s responsibilities, investment in apprentices and contribution to workplace learning.
